The BLUE Ocean Film Festival & Conservation Summit (BLUE) was created because of our fundamental belief that good films can help impact important social issues. We strongly believe the opportunity to use engaging films and media to inspire ocean advocacy has never been more important or relevant.
BLUE is dedicated to finding solutions to change the course of the degradation of our oceans, thereby saving the health and well-being of all of humanity. By using the power of film, photography, entertainment, and science to educate, empower, and inspire ocean stewardship around the globe and facilitate collaboration between the arts & science.
What We Do
Only a short time ago the ocean was thought to be so vast and resilient that we need not be concerned that human activities could impact its health. But in recent years, we have discovered otherwise. Scientists around the world agree that our ocean, our very life support system is in trouble. As the distinguished Dr. Sylvia Earle has said on many occasions, “No Blue, No Green”, and that “the single most critical issue facing the ocean and humanity is a lack of awareness.” Raising awareness that healthy oceans matter is the reason BLUE was founded. By effectively leveraging the impact of great films, BLUE is enlightening people, empowering tangible actions and helping to inspire an ocean stewardship movement around the globe.
BLUE Needs Your Help To Save Our Oceans!
To date, a dedicated volunteer staff has produced all of our events, managed operations, and outreach programs. With sufficient funding to support a small, experienced core team in place, BLUE will be able to sustain an efficient level of operations, deliver high value events and take our programs to the next level where we will be able to generate a greater measurable impact.
